It is Sunday, the start to a brand new week. The gentle strike of the morning sun against the horizon of the sky brings with it a fresh burst and hope for life and that is the one thing that makes life worth living for.  With more weddings taking place and more beautiful children being born there are more signs than ever of livelier times ahead of each one of us. As it all unfolds, I can’t help wondering if our parents and grandparents would have raised us differently in this era of liberalization and e-living.

At the age of nine, my little sister, when asked to do her share of household chores turned round and said she would have us know that she will have robots in her house to do all the household chores when she was older.  At the time; it was hilarious and we all laughed at her. Looking back today, could it be that same inspiration that drove our greatest inventors like Bill Gates, Steve Jobbs?

The difference between such great minds that make history and the rest of us is what we do about our dreams and visions. We just need to get out and do what we must do to make that mark to qualify our legacy for generations to come.

Is the discussion between the great minds and followers exclusive to the first world and a “wild goose chase” for the developing countries like Uganda? Certainly not! The only difference between them and us is not opportunity but mindset about skin colour.  In Africa, we have actually been dealt a better hand by Mother Nature than most of the countries we admire and seek to emulate. What does that say of us? I will leave you to answer that.

What our parents did yesterday defined today for us, what we do today will define tomorrow for our children. What have we done today to ensure continuity of what our parents got us and an enhancement of what is at our disposal for our children? Will we sit back and be considered the passive generation that just drifted through life?

The decision to make a difference in life doesn’t always mean that you will be flawless but that you will be willing to eat humble pie at some point, take a few steps back and ensure that you get it right when you next put your foot forward – that is life. That is also synonymous with the lives of the greatest influencers and movers of society of all time; past, present and albeit the future.

Well to all of us, it is never too late to start on a life changing journey. Each milestone makes the journey worthwhile. I am going to get this started, what about you?
